Christina Manning, a senior sprinter/hurdler on the Buckeye women's track and field team, has been named the 2011-12 Ohio State Female Athlete of the Year, the department of athletics announced Monday. Manning's honor marks the first time a women's track and field athlete has earned the honor since Donica Merriman won the award in 2000 and 2001.
